PhD position in urban climate networks

is looking for a
PhD student in urban climate studies and urban climate networks.
The PhD project is embedded in the European COST Action “FAIRNESS” (https://www.fairness-ca20108.eu), with currently 116 members from 31 countries. FAIRNESS integrates many micrometeorological and urban climate networks from different European cities on a micrometeorological knowledge share platform (Micromet_KSP).
The goal of this PhD project is to work on the integration of urban climate networks, compile the measurement data, and generate and evaluate urban climate maps for several European cities by combining these observations with additional station data, land cover information, satellite data, and reanalysis products.
The candidate will be part of the Oeschger Centre for Climate Change Research and profit form a vibrant network of climate and environmental research at the University of Bern.
The successful candidate has a MSc in Meteorology, Geography, Physics, Environmental Sciences, or similar, experience in programming and statistical analyses (Python, R, etc.), and good knowledge of meteorology and atmospheric physics.
The position is for 4 years starting 1 March 2023.
